Our top tips to get holiday-ready!
Holidays are super exciting – but they tend to lose their wow-factor when they deny your boarding on the flight because your passport is about to expire… yes, it happens… a lot! We have compiled a handy checklist to ensure that you have thought of everything before you head off to paradise.
Have you taken care of all your travel arrangements – flights, hotel, transfers, visas, travel insurance?
If you are an SA Passport holder, please check that your passport is valid for 6 months after your return from your amazing holiday.
Are you travelling to a destination that requires a visa? If so, make sure that you apply for your visa well in advance.
Taking the kids on holiday? Make sure that you have all of the required documents for leaving the country e.g. unabridged birth certificates.
If you have any special dietary requirements, please let your travel agent know in advance.
Your air tickets and other travel documents must be issued in the name reflected in your passport. This is VERY important. Whatever is on your name is in your current passport is what it should be on all of your documents.
Following on from the last point, if you are going on honeymoon, please make sure that the bride’s air ticket is issued in the same name as the passport she will be travelling on – not her new married name.
Check your itinerary to ensure that it reflects the full and correct details of your trip. Are the dates right? Has everything been booked correctly?
It is always a good idea to carry photocopies of all of your travel documents just in case (passports, airline tickets etc).
Travel insurance is a must. If you can’t afford it, you can’t afford to travel!
Have you checked in on-line? This can be done 24 hours prior to departure and will save you time at the airport. Please check the exact departure times with your airline.
Keep all of your boarding passes and tickets until the accrual of frequent flyer points has been confirmed on your statement.
Are you travelling with golf clubs or other sporting equipment? Make sure to notify your Holiday Factory Travel Agent beforehand.
