Here are some reasons why you should book your Maldives holiday today:

Reliable airlines from South Africa to the Maldives

The two airlines that we as The Holiday Factory predominantly use for guests travelling between the Maldives and South Africa is Qatar and Emirates. Over the last two years there has been very few interruptions in travel between South Africa and the Maldives with these airlines. These are secure and established airlines with good schedules that are very reliable. And the flight prices are very competitive so you can get to the Maldives for the same price as many other island or European destinations.

You can choose to fly out of Cape Town or Johannesburg. We highly recommend the evening flight so you travel overnight, arriving in the Maldives the next morning where your seaplane or speedboat transfer will be waiting for you. You’ll be on the beach, sipping cocktails with your toes in the sand by lunchtime.

There is no entry requirements for the Maldives

The Maldives has recently dropped all COVID-19 entry requirements for travellers from any country, including South Africa. What this means is that you don’t need to a PCR before travelling or on arrival and you don’t even need to be vaccinated to travel. Vaccinated travellers won’t need to do a PCR on departure either, although do note unvaccinated travellers still need to present a valid PCR on return according to South Africa’s current regulations. Children under 12 are exempt from these restrictions.

There are no masks in the Maldives

In most countries you will still be required to wear your mask around your hotel or when visiting the restaurants, but this is not the case in the Maldives. Once you have arrived at your resort, you are essentially in a little bubble. You can now discard your mask, enjoy your holiday and simply grab it again when you depart!
