The best golf resorts in the Indian Ocean

The Holiday Factory, together with Heritage Resorts and Mauritius Tourism, is proud to be a sponsor of Pierre Pellegrin. A real rising golf star, Pierre recently won the MCB Indian Ocean Open, qualifying for the AfrAsia Mauritius Open taking place in December 2022. We can’t wait to see how he does on the course.

But until then, he’s inspired us to travel all places green! If a golf holiday sounds like your cup of tee then be sure to check the below list of our favourite golf resorts in the Indian Ocean.

Heritage Resorts, Mauritius

The sister resorts of Heritage Awali and Heritage Le Telfair sit in the Domaine de Bel Ombre in the south of Mauritius. Here you will find an 18 hole Championship Golf course, the English Country Club style O’Grill Restaurant serving simple yet delicious cuisine with views over the course, and a 19th century Château where you can enjoy fine dining cuisine surrounded by history and culture. The Heritage Resorts Golfers Bliss Package gives you five rounds of golf on four courses. Not only will you get two rounds on the Peter Matkovitch designed course at Heritage but you’ll also get to play on the nearby Paradis, Tamarina, and Avalon courses too, with transfers, green fees, bookings, and buggies included!

Constance Lemuria, Seychelles

The Constance Lemuria resort which is located on the paradise island of Praslin in the Seychelles is home to a stunning course which is the only 18-hole championship golf course in the archipelago. Green fees are complimentary for guests. Here you will also find the restaurant DIVA, designed by French interior designer Marc Hertrich. This is the place to go for modern and tasty cuisine inspired by Mediterranean flavours. A truly unique venue in the Seychelles, the cellar houses more than 23,000 bottles and the wine list simply is the most complete and desirable in the region with over 1,500 references from around 200 wineries.

Sea Cliff Resort and Spa, Zanzibar

The Sea Cliff Resort and Spa is home to the only golf course on Zanzibar. The 9-hole Matkovitch designed course features a club house, under-cover driving range and chipping, bunker and putting practice areas. Zanzibar’s sandy beaches provide the 7th hole’s unique fairway bunker and the signature 9th hole is complimented by its exotic backdrop of the sea. The course has been designed with variation in distance and direction on the front and back 9 to create an experience of playing a full 18 holes. The course has a par 71, which includes short and long par 4s and a couple of drivable options. After a round, you can enjoy the sunset from the Clubhouse’s Veranda, situated on a private beach where you can soak in the views of the ocean. Hotel guests get preferential rates and tee off times and can hire golf carts and clubs.

Constance Belle Mare Plage, Mauritius

Constance Belle Mare Plage in Mauritius is home to not one but two 18-hole golf courses. The Legends course, designed by South African champion, Hugh Baiocchi, is sculpted into the natural surroundings and is a site to behold as well as being a challenge to your game. The Links course on the other hand is ideal for newbies, and for those seeking to perfect their technique. At the clubhouse of the Links, you will find the Le Swing restaurant overlooking the course with a superb view of its surroundings and a spectacular sunset while the Deer Hunter restaurant is located at the clubhouse of the Legend golf course. The restaurant enjoys a superb view of the greens of the 18th hole and the Java deer can be seen around. The restaurant is open for continental breakfast and à la carte/set menu for dinner including signature venison and BBQ dishes. Guests staying at Constance Belle Mare Place and at the sister hotel of Constance Prince Maurice get free green fees for both courses.
